Using less data

Mobile data is the main cost of listening, so it is worth knowing what is cheap and what is not.

From lightest to heaviest

  1. A downloaded sermon uses nothing at all once it is on your phone.
  2. A sermon from the archive is sound only, and the lightest thing you can stream.
  3. The sermon radio is the same as above, running continuously.
  4. A live service with the picture off is lighter than watching, though not as light as a recorded sermon.
  5. A live service with video uses the most by a wide margin.

Practical habits

Download on wifi what you intend to listen to during the week. Use Listen only during services when you are not able to watch anyway. And if you are following a long teaching, the archive costs less than the replay.

A note on the live chat

The chat keeps loading new messages for as long as it is open, which adds up over a long service. Closing it when you are not reading it is a small saving worth making.
